White light, white heat

This weekend was the annual Snowfest in Frankenmuth, Michigan. If you don't know what that is, it's a snow carving competition with teams from all around the world coming together and snow sculpting all different kinds of large scale pieces. I had every intention of going because I used to work in Frankenmuth and still had a lot of friends in the area. However, a friend of mine came up and I ended up spending the weekend with him. Don't ask. ;)

But, I did paint my nails for Snowfest! Since this whole area is covered by too much damn snow, I thought that white nails would be the perfect choice.

This is from Sephora by OPI, it's called White Hot. I had been in the market for a white nail polish and found this gem! The only downside is that it had kind of a watery consistency. The first coat had a lot of streaks, the second one had a few and finally by the third coat, it was completely covered and opaque. The first time I tried white nail polish I was afraid my nails would look weird. But the final outcome is wonderful. It makes my nails look a lot longer than they actually are. It has kind of a mod effect, too.

White Hot costs $9.50 and you can find it here.

Insert introductory nail polish post title here.

I really love nail polish! Like, way more than any normal person should. I'd be even more obsessed if those wacky obligations like work, school and bills didn't get in the way. Darn responsibility!

For me, painting my nails is almost therapeutic in a weird way. It’s something I have absolute control over. I know exactly how I want it to look. I guess you could even call it a ritual.

I used to be a nail biter. I think it runs in my family. I bit it down to the bloody nub. Yeah, that bad. But then I started buying nail polish and I guess that kind of motivated me to stop biting them. I realized that short, nubby, chewed on nails didn’t look very attractive with nail polish on. Not to mention healing nails hurt like a mother. Now I can’t even think about biting my nails. The uneven, jagged edges? Never!
Disregard the box of wax in the background.
These are my nails. Don't laugh. They're marinating right now. I have a coat of Sephora by OPI strengthener on which is smothered by my handy dandy Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. It's like a lemon-y tin of heaven. Plus, it makes your cuticles crazy soft in like, one use.

So yeah, I can't wait to start painting my nails! Ha. Even if no one reads this, at least I know I followed through. :)
